How to Prepare Your Skin for Summer Sun

With the summer slowly approaching, it seems that there is so much to do. Days are becoming longer and we spend more and more time outside. Due to this fact, our skin needs to be prepared for the sun. Even though the sun is the source of life, it can be very harmful to our skin, so we have to be aware of its negative consequences and do our best to protect our skin. In the following few paragraphs you will find out how to prepare your skin for spending days in the summer sun.

Healthy living

The first step in preparing your skin for the summer sun is to eat a healthy diet, full of vegetables and fruit. And do not forget about water – hydration on an hourly basis is of utmost importance not only for your skin, but for the rest of your body as well. Spending a lot of time outside, especially when it’s hot, can dry out your muscles and you can even get nauseous. In order to prevent any mishap, it is best if you take a lot of vitamins, minerals and a lot of liquids. This way, you moisturise your skin from the inside.

Regular care

If you want to have a glowing skin, then you have to take care of it. Many people think that beautiful glowing skin is a gift from nature, but what they oversee is that people with healthy skin take a lot of care of it. The best thing you can do is to establish a daily routine for your entire skn. This means washing your face before bedtime (especially if you wear makeup every day – you have to clean it), and after each bath, apply a moisturising cream onto your body in order to keep skin firm and healthy. Instead of using a soap that dries your skin out, replace it with a natural moisturising soap with natural oils, such as lavender, olive or avocado. Introduce the use of sunscreen on a daily basis.

Smooth legs

Summertime is usually connected with the smooth skin, so instead of using a razor, you can try  laser hair removal. This way, you will avoid getting cut and most importantly, a professional will take care of your body hair, so you do not have to think about it. This is a long term solution for body hair and you will be free from it for years to come, so why not give it a try? After the treatment, you can go to a spa and treat yourself with a full-day enjoyment for the entire skin.

And finally, even though we are aware that sun can treat us both well and badly, we cannot seem to help going outside to show off our beautiful skin. It is in our nature to enjoy spending hours in the sun, and scientists seem to have the answer why this is so – our skin produces Melatonin which protects us and activates happiness. Well, that is a good enough reason for me to go outside. How about you?

  4. I think sunscreen is the key! It's important to know the differences between physical and chemical sunscreens, too, and how each type works. Personally, I prefer chemical sunscreen (no white flashbacks in pictures), and if someone prefers that as well, they need to make sure that it's Full Spectrum (protects against both UVA and UVB rays).
