White Elephant/Secret Santa Gift Guide + $100 Lippie Lover Giveaway (Ended)8:30 AM
Those holiday parties are coming up! Don't wait until last minute to get the gift that everyone wants to steal. At my annual holiday party, we always do white elephant, which is pretty much a more fun Secret Santa. Ever since I've played white elephant, I've never gone back to secret santa. If you're not familiar with the game, here's how to play:
Participants get a gift within a certain price range (I usually set it at $15-20) to bring to the party. At the party, we put all the gifts under the tree and write the participants' names on pieces of paper and put them in a hat. When the first name gets pulled out, he/she can open two gifts and choose which one they want. As each following name gets pulled, he/she can either choose to steal a gift from someone or open a gift. Gifts can only get stolen twice (if you're the second person to steal a particular gift, it is now yours and no one can take it from you), but this rule can vary. Sounds fun, right?
You ideally want to be chosen towards the end so you can see most of the options out there. I like it better than secret santa because it engages the entire party even those who aren't playing.
So, what are my top picks for white elephant? I always choose gender neutral gifts because I play with both guys and girls. It's more fun when anyone can steal and it's not limited to just a female/male item.
Mini Beer Pong - $80 (There was a cheaper option on Macys.com for just $14, but I think it sold out. This is actually what I got my friend for hosting the holiday party this year).
Gin & Tonic Cocktail Kit - $24 G&Ts are my go-to drink, plus who doesn't want to make their own cocktail?
10 pc Tic-Tac-Toe Game - $14 Everyone knows how to play the game, it's a great way to get guests to mingle and it looks expensive and would look great on a side table or bookshelf.
Godiva Hot Cocoa Variety Pack - $20 Who doesn't love hot cocoa? It's a no-brainer gift if you don't know the crowd that well.
Brookstone Swivel Speaker - $20 Is there a party thrower in the mix? If so, these speakers are a must have. They're great for projecting sound and they're small enough to take with you if you need music on-the-go.
Stocking Tea Infuser - $24 What a cute tea infuser! For someone who loves the holidays, this is a great gift.
Camera Lens Travel Mug - $10 It looks so real. Whether there's an avid photographer out there or not, it's a great conversation starter for whoever takes it with them.
Stocking Wine Flask - $15 This would be great for personal use or at a party. It's functional decor!
Ugly Sweater Coasters - $7 How fun and spirited. Keep the party alive with these decorative coasters.
Silicone Emoji Ice Tray - $10 Who doesn't love emojis? Everyone can have fun with these and they are a fun spin on a boring item.
Record Coasters 4 pack - $10 Record lover or not, everyone loves music. Plus, these aren't seasonal so you can use them all year round.
Bad Boss Voodoo Doll - $10 Know some dissatisfied employees (they're at every party)? This would be the perfect gift! It provides a good laugh and maybe a little stress relief for someone who might really need it.
