Sneak Peek: New BA Star Smoky Eyeshadow Palettes | La Vie en May

Sneak Peek: New BA Star Smoky Eyeshadow Palettes

Guess what came in the mail this week? My BA Star Eyeshadow Palette! I am very excited to try this palette out. The one I received is 'Midnight Smoky', which hasn't been released to their website yet. I'm giving you the exclusive scoop :)

Some information about the company: BA Star is #1 in performance makeup. Whether you're dancing, cheering, singing or strutting, your makeup will still look fabulous. That's a huge statement to boast, in my opinion. I've worked out in my makeup before and I looked completely hideous! My mascara was running, my eyeshadow was almost invisible and my eyeliner was smudging. So, I really want to see if BA Star can live up to their promises.

Packaging of the product.
The package came with 5 high-pigmented shadows and an eye shadow "glue" base, which acts as a primer to enhance the colors of the shadows.

First, I swatched the primer. It's a white color that dries clear. The base is smooth and thick, but not heavy.

How the primer looks against my skin.
Now, for the palette. 'Midnight Smoky' is exactly how I'd describe it. There is a nice mix of blues, grays and blacks.

I applied the middle color to my hand. On the left is one swipe of the color without the primer and to the right is one swipe of the color with the primer. The shadows are highly pigmented without the primer, but the color is applied more evenly when the base is used.

I was very surprised to see how pigmented the shadows are! They're rich in color and very bold. As for the performance aspect of the makeup, I soaked a cotton ball with warm water and dabbed it on the swatches as if I was sweating. None of the shadows smudged or leaked, so they do have some lasting value to them.

Swatches of the palette with the glue base.
The palette came with a double sided brush. I am not a huge fan of the brush. It feels very rough on my skin and it looks like the strands are fraying already. I used my own brushes when I applied the shadows.

Overall, I am very happy with the palette and the glue base. The colors in the palette are beautiful and long lasting. If you get the chance, check out what BA Star has to offer on their site: http://bastar.com

Rating: 4/5 stars

  6. I've heard of this company before but always thought they only catered to performancers. The pigment looks great and also looks like it'll last me all day. I need to look into their products.
