Nail of the Day: Pink Zebras

My boyfriend surprised me with nail stamp supplies for Valentine's Day! As crazy as it sounds, I was so giddy when I saw the stuff he got me. I always thought nail stamping was cool: it seemed really simple to do and you can beautiful designs in just seconds without having to go to the salon and empty your wallet. Check out what I got:
Konad Double Side Nail Stamper and Metal Scraper; found here.
MASH Design Plates, Set of 25; found here.
I have to say, it's not as easy as it looks. It took me 2-3 tries before I really got it down correctly. The key to success is swiftness. There are four simple steps: cover the image with nail polish, scrap off excess nail polish, grab the design using the stamper and roll the stamper over your finger. You want to be really quick between the scraping and grabbing the design using the stamper. If you're too slow, the nail polish will dry and you have to clean the plate with acetone and start all over. I recommend watching a video before you start doing it yourself.

For my first design ever, I decided to choose a zebra print. I thought I'd spice it up by having a hot pink base instead of a white base. What do you guys think?

Hot pink base is Essie's 'Bottle Service' and stripes are
Essie's 'Licorice'
Ignore the pinky..it's a bit messy to say the least.

  2. they do look cool. I have very short nails because I play the guitar and mandoline, so I don't get to pretty them up. :0(

    1. Aw, that's a bummer. You do have toes that you can paint though!

  7. Looks great! I'm really bad at painting my nails, so I rarely polish them, But I have to polish my toes if wearing open toed shoes. So, I might try some stamps for my toes.

  9. I LOVE the Konad stamping kit! It took me a few goes too before I got the hang of it. Black is the best for the designs I find, always shows up really well and clear! The white stamping by Konad is pretty good too but doesn't always how up as well as I'd like!

  11. It looks super cool! I've heard a lot about the stamping technique, but I've never actually tried it myself; the nail fanatic I am, or even seen it done. But those results look really professional, and I guess this is something I most definitely need to try!

  12. I love them. I'm always drawn towards anything with animal print. I've been meaning to get the Konad stamping system for a while now. Thanks for the review, when you see tutorials it seems so easy and effortless so it's good to know you have to practice a bit.
